Where to stay around Phang Nga Bay: six bases, 20 hotels

The right hotel starts with the holiday you want: a mainland boat day, a sunrise viewpoint, an island retreat or a beach holiday with one exceptional excursion.

We may earn a commission from eligible bookings made through our links, at no extra cost to you. We explain practical trade-offs so you can choose a trip that fits. Prices, availability and cancellation terms are set by the provider.

Choose the kind of stay before choosing a hotel

Phang Nga Bay is a region of islands, sheltered waterways and mainland shores, not a resort town with one obvious centre. A booking search can show hotels in Phang Nga province, Phuket, Khao Lak and the Koh Yao islands together, even though they support quite different holidays. The choice is less about finding the hotel nearest a photograph of James Bond Island and more about deciding what should happen before and after the boat trip.

If the bay is one day in a longer Phuket holiday, an extra hotel move may buy little. If Samet Nangshe at first light matters, a mainland overnight has a clearer purpose. If the hotel pool and island atmosphere are as important as sightseeing, Koh Yao deserves several unhurried nights. The shortlist below covers 20 real properties found on Booking.com; our descriptions explain positioning and trade-offs, rather than claiming we personally stayed in every room.

Phang Nga town: spend on experiences, not the address

The town works well for a mainland itinerary that combines a bay excursion with time around Phang Nga itself. It is a useful starting point for comparing modest guesthouses, especially if you are travelling by road between other southern destinations. It is not a substitute for an island or beach stay: choose it because you want town life and an excursion base, not because the province's name sounds like a waterfront resort.

The Sleep Phang-nga and Home Phang-Nga Guesthouse suit a simple private-room shortlist. Rachawadee House deserves attention when a twin, family or quadruple layout could avoid booking two rooms. Le Erawan adds an outdoor pool and a broader hotel room range. For groups, compare the complete party price and bed arrangement before comparing the apparent nightly bargain. A family room may still be one shared sleeping space; a connecting-room request may remain unconfirmed.

Samet Nangshe: buy the actual view, not the cover photo

The mainland viewpoint area is a different experience from staying in town. Sametnangshe Boutique and Beyond Skywalk Nangshi make a scenic overnight possible, but both offer accommodation with different outlooks. Garden and forest categories should not be booked in the expectation of the same panorama shown from a café, skywalk or premium terrace. The most important question is what the selected room guarantees, not whether the hotel has an impressive marketing image.

At Beyond, decide whether you actually want a tent, pavilion or villa; the structure and bathroom arrangement can matter as much as the view. At either property, organise the final access and luggage movement, and plan the evening meal before arrival. A sunrise-oriented stay is most enjoyable when the morning is not followed by an unrealistic rush to a distant pier. Compare a mainland tour that fits your hotel, or keep the bay trip on a separate day.

Koh Yao Noi: choose between an island base and a retreat

Koh Yao Noi can provide a slower island chapter, but its hotels are not interchangeable. Koh Yao Seaview Bungalow has several smaller-scale accommodation types, including multi-bedroom options. Cape Kudu offers a hotel-style stay and the choice of ordinary rooms or a pool villa. Six Senses Yao Noi is a more deliberate villa holiday, where reserving time at the property is part of making the booking worthwhile.

Paradise Koh Yao is at the remote northern end of the island and explicitly warns of hillside staircases. That is a meaningful distinction for someone hoping to wander in and out of a town each evening or needing easy access between facilities. Compare the hotel-to-island journey as well as the airport-to-hotel transfer. A Phuket hotel-pickup day tour should never be assumed to include a Koh Yao hotel merely because both locations appear on the same bay map.

Koh Yao Yai: make room for resort days

Koh Yao Yai is well suited to a stay in which the resort is a substantial part of the itinerary. Koh Yao Yai Village offers a garden-and-villa setting; Santhiya combines an extensive room range with a traditional Thai-inspired resort style; Anantara adds spacious suites, family configurations and private-pool choices. These are different ways of spending the holiday, not simply three positions on a price ladder.

Transport terms can change the apparent value dramatically. Santhiya's merchant listing specifically flags its shared-speedboat requirement and its official route uses Ao Po Grand Marina. Anantara publishes its own routes through Laem Sai Pier in Phuket and Thalane Pier in Krabi. Do not book a generic boat ticket first and assume it matches the hotel arrangement. Obtain the current required transfer, eligible departure and total cost for every traveller, including children.

Phuket: pick a neighbourhood with its own reason to stay

Phuket is often the practical choice for visitors who want one hotel and a selection of day trips. Choose the neighbourhood for the rest of the holiday, then find a bay tour serving it. The Memory at On On and Casa Blanca put Phuket Old Town in the foreground, with architecture and food-focused evenings. The Memory's address on Phang Nga Road can be confusing: it is in Phuket, not Phang Nga town.

Dewa at Nai Yang offers another proposition: northern-Phuket beach time with conventional rooms, suites or pool villas. COMO Point Yamu is a quieter east-coast headland resort, with the bay landscape and hotel facilities as major attractions. Neither a northern nor eastern address automatically means an included tour transfer. Send the actual hotel name when comparing GetYourGuide options; collection zones, pier routes and surcharges belong to each individual product.

Khao Lak: a beach holiday with a separate bay day

Khao Lak is on the Andaman side of the mainland. It works well when the main holiday is beach and resort time, with Phang Nga Bay added as a planned excursion. The Sands at Nang Thong, La Vela at Bang Niang and JW Marriott at Khuk Khak provide three different room and resort configurations. Compare the precise beach area and the facilities you will use between trips, rather than treating Khao Lak as one small hotel district.

At The Sands, the wing influences the stay: Aqua concentrates family water play, while Lagoon and Seaside offer other settings. At La Vela, Poolside and Pool Access are different promises. At JW Marriott, a lagoon-view room and a terrace opening to the pool are different choices too. Choose a GetYourGuide departure explicitly serving Khao Lak, and verify the named resort is inside the collection zone before booking an early breakfast or evening commitment.

Compare room details and the whole-stay total

Begin a Booking.com comparison with dates, all guests' ages and the same room configuration. Then compare the final total, payment timing, cancellation deadline, breakfast, other meals and transfers. A cheaper non-refundable room may be poor value if the island connection is unresolved. A rate naming scheduled sea transfers does not necessarily include the airport car or a private boat outside the timetable. Keep the room and transport confirmations together.

For families, distinguish an extra bed, sofa bed, bunk bed, second bedroom and connecting room. For couples, distinguish privacy, a sea view and a private pool; one does not imply the others. For anyone who needs easy access, describe the actual route required between the vehicle, reception, room, dining and shore. Finally, give a bay excursion a clear place in the stay rather than buying several near-identical tours. One suitable day on the water leaves time to enjoy the accommodation you chose.

Alongside your hotel booking, prepare a way to contact the property and open arrival instructions while travelling. See our Thailand eSIM & internet guide.

Ask the hotel about holding your bags before check-in or after checkout. If your plans take you elsewhere in Phuket, compare the alternatives in our Phuket luggage storage guide.

Questions worth asking

Do I need to stay in Phang Nga town to visit the bay?

No. GetYourGuide lists departures from several regional bases. Choose an excursion that serves your actual hotel and compare the full itinerary. A town stay is useful when the mainland itself is part of your plan.

Which area is best for a modest accommodation budget?

Phang Nga town is a sensible starting shortlist for private guesthouse rooms. Compare the cost of reaching your chosen tour as well as the room. A low rate on a remote island can be offset by extra transfers.

Does a beachfront or sea-view room guarantee easy swimming?

No. The view, access to sand, water depth and conditions are separate features. Ask the property about the shoreline at your dates and use its current swimming advice.

Are these hotels on Booking.com?

Each property in this shortlist had a specific Booking.com listing when researched on 27 October 2026. Links lead to the property, but room availability, facilities and booking conditions must be checked for your dates.

Should I reserve the hotel or the boat trip first?

Check both before paying a restrictive rate. Shortlist the hotel, obtain the tour pickup or island transfer details, then book compatible reservations. This is especially important for remote resorts and early departures.

The Sleep Phang-nga

The Sleep is a town guesthouse on Phet Kasem Road, with air-conditioned private rooms and a coffee-shop setting rather than resort grounds. Its useful role is straightforward: a place to sleep while spending daylight on a mainland boat trip and exploring Phang Nga town. The room list includes smaller doubles, twins and larger configurations, so a low headline price is not a like-for-like comparison with every room shown in the photographs.

A good fit for
Budget travellers who prefer to spend on a bay excursion and local meals rather than a pool villa.
Getting there matters
Compare the actual bed layout and room area. Request a quieter room if road noise matters, and arrange your morning departure before reception becomes busy.

Home Phang-Nga Guesthouse

Home Phang-Nga Guesthouse is a small mainland alternative with air-conditioned rooms, private bathrooms and shared outdoor space. Its Booking.com listing includes a garden or terrace setting and a tour desk, giving it a different feel from a large roadside hotel. Choose it for a modest town stay with time to sit outside between outings. Some room choices have balconies or different outlooks; reserve the feature you actually want instead of assuming that every unit matches the main photograph.

A good fit for
Independent travellers who want a guesthouse base for the town and a separately arranged bay day.
Getting there matters
Check balcony access, stairs and arrival arrangements. Ask for the full price of any offered shuttle or tour before treating it as part of the room booking.

Rachawadee House Phang Nga

Rachawadee House is another practical town option on Phet Kasem Road. Its listing distinguishes budget doubles and twins from family and quadruple rooms, which makes it worth comparing when friends or relatives would otherwise need two rooms. Air conditioning and a private bathroom are listed; the value is in a functional overnight base rather than a resort programme. Look at the bed diagram and floor area carefully: more sleeping places do not necessarily mean separate bedrooms or generous space for luggage.

A good fit for
Friends and budget-conscious families comparing a shared room with the cost of two smaller rooms.
Getting there matters
Enter every traveller's age and confirm the accepted occupancy. Check whether any kitchenette feature in the selected room is sufficient for your needs rather than assuming a fully equipped kitchen.

Le Erawan Phang Nga Hotel

Le Erawan is a larger town hotel with an outdoor pool and on-site dining, a useful step up when the mainland overnight is also part of the holiday. The hotel's official accommodation list includes connecting and family options as well as standard rooms and suites. This suits a party that wants more than somewhere to leave a bag, while keeping road access to mainland excursions. The surrounding landscape is mountainous; booking here does not put you on a swimming beach.

A good fit for
Families or road-trip travellers wanting a pool, restaurant and a wider choice of room arrangements.
Getting there matters
Confirm whether connecting rooms are guaranteed in your booked category and whether breakfast starts early enough for the chosen excursion. A requested connection is not the same as a confirmed connecting-room reservation.

Sametnangshe Boutique

Sametnangshe Boutique makes sense when seeing the bay from above is a main reason for staying overnight. The hotel has several accommodation categories, including garden-facing rooms and sea-view options; the dramatic panorama in its publicity is not a promise of the same view from every bed. Its Bay View Café is a separate part of the experience. A stay here is best treated as time for the landscape, dinner and an unhurried morning rather than a beach-resort substitute.

A good fit for
Photographers and couples building a mainland overnight around the Samet Nangshe viewpoint area.
Getting there matters
Read the room's exact view description and arrange the final hillside access. Ask about café access, luggage assistance and current pool availability if those features are essential to your booking.

Beyond Skywalk Nangshi

Beyond Skywalk Nangshi combines a viewpoint attraction with a varied accommodation collection. Forest tents, sea-view tents, pavilions and pool villas are different products, not minor upgrades to a standard hotel room. The official site describes both forest and sea outlooks, so the appealing idea of waking to the bay needs to be matched to a specific category. Choose this for the glamping or viewpoint experience itself and leave space in the itinerary to enjoy the property.

A good fit for
Travellers who want an unusual mainland stay and are happy to choose accommodation by its layout and outlook.
Getting there matters
Compare bathroom arrangements, tent versus solid-wall accommodation, room access and included skywalk admission. If travelling with children, check the actual permitted occupancy rather than relying on the word family.

Koh Yao Noi · Budget & simple stays

Koh Yao Seaview Bungalow

Koh Yao Seaview Bungalow offers a smaller-scale island stay with a broader room range than its name suggests. Booking.com lists beachfront bungalows, rooms facing the pool and two-bedroom accommodation. That variety is useful for travellers who want an island setting without immediately choosing a private-pool resort. It also makes comparison important: a room with a sea view, a beachfront bungalow and a two-bedroom unit have different layouts and uses. Plan time on Koh Yao Noi itself rather than treating it as a dormitory for Phuket departures.

A good fit for
Value-minded couples, friends or families looking for an island base with several bed configurations.
Getting there matters
Check which building and view the rate buys. Ask about shore conditions at your travel dates and the final transfer from the island pier; beachfront does not guarantee convenient swimming at every tide.

Cape Kudu Hotel, Koh Yao Noi

Cape Kudu provides a polished hotel-style alternative to the bay's secluded villa resorts. Its room collection moves from Deluxe and Deluxe Sea View rooms to Pool Villas, so the practical choice is whether you want a comfortable base for island days or a private pool worth spending time beside. The latter is not automatically better value if you will be out on excursions throughout the stay. Keep a little time for the hotel and Koh Yao Noi instead of booking consecutive full-day crossings.

A good fit for
Couples or friends who want an upscale island hotel with a choice between conventional rooms and a pool villa.
Getting there matters
Compare Deluxe and Deluxe Sea View explicitly, then price the complete airport, boat and island transfer. Hotel packages and a Booking.com room-only rate may include different services.

Koh Yao Noi · Luxury retreats

Six Senses Yao Noi

Six Senses Yao Noi is a villa-led choice for making the resort part of the destination. Private pools are central to the accommodation, but the outlook is a separate decision: Hideaway categories are garden-facing, while Ocean and Ocean Panorama categories offer different sea-view propositions. That distinction matters more than a generic luxury label when the limestone bay is the reason for your trip. The resort also has larger and beachfront options, with layouts that should be compared carefully for groups.

A good fit for
Honeymoons, celebratory stays or travellers deliberately reserving time for a private-pool villa.
Getting there matters
Choose the guaranteed view and bedroom layout before comparing rates. Ask how the selected villa connects to dining and the beach, then include the land-and-boat transfers and meal budget in the total.

Northern Koh Yao Noi · Upscale stays

Paradise Koh Yao

Paradise Koh Yao occupies the more remote northern end of Koh Yao Noi, so it should be evaluated as a retreat rather than as an interchangeable island hotel. Its official access information emphasises the resort transfer and warns that the hillside setting involves many staircases. The benefit is the setting and time at the property; the trade-off is that casually coming and going around the island needs more planning. A one-night visit can devote an outsized share of the stay to arrival and departure.

A good fit for
Travellers who want a secluded island break and are comfortable with a resort-led stay.
Getting there matters
Resolve the boat arrival and departure before reserving flights. Describe any mobility needs in detail and ask for the route between your specific room, restaurant and beach rather than accepting a general accessibility label.

Koh Yao Yai Village

Koh Yao Yai Village is an option for travellers drawn to a garden-and-villa resort setting rather than a conventional hotel block. Its accommodation collection includes different villa types, and the resort offers pool facilities and on-site dining. Treat garden space, the pool and the sea outlook as separate buying decisions: a larger unit can be more useful to a family than a more photogenic category with less sleeping flexibility. This is a base for spending time on Koh Yao Yai, with excursions arranged around the island location.

A good fit for
Couples and families who want a relaxed resort setting with time between boat outings.
Getting there matters

Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa

Santhiya combines a traditional Thai-inspired resort style with a substantial range of rooms and pool villas. Its pools and sea-view settings make it a candidate for travellers who want the hotel to occupy several days of the holiday. The transport arrangement is unusually important: the current Booking.com property title flags a mandatory shared speedboat, while the official transfer page specifies Ao Po Grand Marina on Phuket. Read the exact booking terms instead of assuming any public ferry will satisfy the reservation.

A good fit for
Couples and families seeking a resort-focused Koh Yao Yai stay, with time to use its facilities.
Getting there matters

Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort & Villas

Anantara Koh Yao Yai is worth comparing when a family needs accommodation designed around children rather than an extra bed squeezed into a double. The official range includes family suites with bunk beds, pool-access choices, villas and penthouses. It also separates a family pool from an adults-only Tranquillity Pool. These are useful distinctions for mixed-age groups, but the correct room category still matters: a sea-view suite and a family suite do not necessarily have the same sleeping arrangement.

A good fit for
Families wanting resort facilities, or couples comparing spacious suites with private-pool accommodation.
Getting there matters
Check children's ages, bunk-bed suitability and pool-access safety. The resort uses its own transfer routes from Phuket and Krabi, so confirm the exact pier and whether scheduled sea transfers are included in your selected Booking.com rate.

The Memory at On On Hotel

The Memory at On On brings a genuinely different reason to choose Phuket: a historic building in the Old Town rather than a beach or private villa. The hotel's own history dates the original building to 1927 and describes its Sino-Portuguese architecture and internal courtyards. It is a useful match for visitors who want their evenings to involve the town as well as their days to include the bay. Note that its address is on Phang Nga Road in Phuket, not in Phang Nga town.

A good fit for
Travellers combining a bay excursion with Phuket's architecture, cafés and urban food scene.
Getting there matters
Inspect the exact room layout and ask about stairs, windows and street-facing noise. Confirm that the tour serves this Phuket town address, especially when a listing mainly mentions west-coast beach pickups.

Casa Blanca Boutique Hotel

Casa Blanca offers an Old Town base with a swimming pool, a combination worth considering if you want town evenings without giving up a place to cool off between excursions. Its official site identifies a colonial-style building on Phuket Road and shows a range from double rooms to a Family Suite. The appeal is a small urban hotel with character, not the grounds of a beach resort. Compare it with The Memory at On On according to the room and facilities you will actually use.

A good fit for
Couples or small families who prioritise Phuket Old Town and would also use a hotel pool.
Getting there matters

Dewa Phuket Resort & Villas

Dewa is a northern-Phuket choice at Nai Yang, useful when you want beach time while keeping the airport side of the island in mind. Its accommodation range spans conventional Deluxe rooms, pool villas and one- or two-bedroom suites. The suite option deserves a separate look for families: the official site describes a kitchen area in the one-bedroom accommodation and larger multi-bedroom layouts. A private pool and an extra bedroom solve different needs, so decide which matters before comparing prices.

A good fit for
Families comparing suite space, couples wanting a pool villa, or travellers planning a comfortable Phuket night before flying.

COMO Point Yamu, Phuket

COMO Point Yamu is a headland resort on Phuket's east coast, with Phang Nga Bay as part of the outlook. Its design, large shared infinity pool and wellness facilities make it a different proposition from a hotel on a busy beach strip. Accommodation ranges from Bay Rooms to suites and multi-bedroom pool villas, allowing a couple and a larger group to use the same property very differently. Choose it for a resort stay with road access on Phuket, rather than assuming a sea view means sand outside every room.

A good fit for
Design-conscious couples or groups wanting a luxury Phuket base without an island-hotel boat transfer.
Getting there matters

The Sands is a family-oriented beach-resort choice in Khao Lak, with different wings intended for different styles of stay. The Aqua Wing concentrates water-play facilities, while Lagoon and Seaside categories offer other settings. This makes the room's location within the resort unusually important: being close to children's activities can be more valuable than a higher category elsewhere. Its location at Nang Thong is on the Andaman coast, so the bay should be planned as a dedicated excursion rather than an activity next door.

A good fit for
Families who will use resort pools and children's facilities on days between sightseeing trips.

La Vela gives the Khao Lak shortlist a contemporary beachfront option at Bang Niang.
